STATE BUYS LAND
SOLDIER SETTLEMENT SOUTH IRRIGATION AREA (By Telegraph.—rress Association) ASHBURTON, Thursday The Government has purchased over 4000 acres of the lightest land in the area to be served by the irrigation scheme. The land will be worked and put into a state of productivity when water is available, before being subdivided and settled. The scheme is part of a plan for settling soldiers on the land after their return from the war.
