Illegal Photographs

The authorities charged with the administration of the photography emergency regulations once again ccall public attention to the risks associated with the illegal taki'ng of pictures. A few amateur photographers apparently do not realise that the taking of photographs of defence objects, including aerodromes, docks or dockyards, vessels of war or any vessels engaged upon the service of His Majesty, aircraft or wreckage of aircraft, or even roads exclusively connected with works or defence, constiutes a serious offence under the photography regulations. Permits to photograph certain objects may be issued under the regulations, but it is a serious attempt to take photographs of flffbidden subjects without a prmit. Penalties for breaches are substantial. A No. 2 Budget A hint that a No. 2 Budget this year was a possibility was given by the Minister of Health, the Hon. H. T. Armstrong, in a public address at the Waltham School, near Christchurch. Mr Armstrong said he was not going to say that more was not to be taken from the workers. New Zealand would be very lucky indeed if it got through the war with the taxation now imposed. There would be another Budget next year —and there might be a Budget No. 2 before next year. “ They have done that in England already,” he said. “ and we may have to turn out attention in their direction.’ Morality is the chart, drafted by religion; rectitude is the compass; duty the rudder, and conscience the steersman at the helm.—Professor G.
