SIX SOLDIERS HONOURED The Taupiri Hall was filled to capacity when the Taupiri soldiers’ farewell and reception committee held a dance to bid farewell to six members who will leave with the third echelon. They were Sergeant T. Culley, Corporal R. McFarlane, Private W. Hatwell, Gunner H. Wilson, Private Monaghan and Private W. Bently. The hall was beautifully decorated with flags. Clarry Cresswell’s orchestra supplied the music and an extra was played by Miss J. Walters. Winners of the novelty dance were Miss Isabel Walker and Mr I. Walters. During the evening. Mr W. Waring, on behalf of the district, presented each man with an inscribed fountain pen and pencil and in doing so congratulated each of the soldiers on upholding their country’s honour and wished them God speed and a safe return.
