CLASHES WITH ENEMY ATTACKS BROKEN UP BOMBER BROUGHT DOWN (Official Wireless) (Received August 14, 11 a.m.) RUGBY, August 13 A Cairo communique states: Reports have been received of a general attack on our positions covering the Jugargan Pass, in Somaliland, on August 11. In spite of intensive support by low-flying aircraft the attacks were broken up and repulsed by our artillery and small arm fire. At one place the enemy obtained a small local advantage but were immediately counter-attacked. One large enemy bomber was brought down by infantry fire. There is nothing to report on the other fronts.

The Jugargan Pass is 35 miles north-east from Hargeisa. |
