FIRE IN BUS
PASSENGERS UNHARMED OUTBREAK QUICKLY QUELLED When fire broke out in a fairly crowded bus in Selkirk Street at 5.43 p.m. yesterday all the passengers escaped uninjured, without the slightest sign of panic. The fire was rapidly suppressed and no damage was caused to the bus, which was proceeding to Frankton. A battery cable short-circuited and the fire occurred near the gear box. The driver broke the street fire alarm call box and two fire engines were despatched by the Hamilton Fire Brigade, but their services were not required as the outbreak was suppressed by the bus driver.
Passengers made their exit through the ordinary door and the emergency exit.
