BRITISH TROOPS
MONEY FOR COMFORTS HAMILTON FIRM’S GIFT A gift of £1750 for the comfort of the men of Britain’s armed forces has been made by Messrs H. and J. Court, Limited, of Hamilton. The Royal Navy Amenities Fund, the Royal Air Force Comforts Fund, and the Army Comforts Committee have each been given £SOO, and £250 has been given to the Lord Mayor of London’s Red Cross and St. John Fund. The gifts were made through Sir Harry Batterbee, the United Kingdom High Commissioner in New Zealand. In acknowledging the gift Sir Harry, in a letter to the firm, said that he appreciated the generous sentiments expressed in the letter accompanying the cheque. The whole-hearted support of the men and women of New Zealand in the common endeavour against the enemy was a never-failing source of encouragement to the people of Britain. He was sure the gift would be received with the warmest gratitude.
