SUCCESSFUL CONCERT
PARTY FROM HAMILTON A concert party organised by the Hamilton National Entertainers, under the auspices of the Hamilton Women’s Patriotic Entertainment Committee, journeyed 60 miles to Te Kohunga, near the Waikato Heads, to serve the dual purpose of providing the programme at a patriotic effort and a farewell to three local lads on leave with the Third Echelon. In spite of the inclement weather there was a capacity house and the various items were particularly well received. Those taking part were: Mrs Colin Wilson, contralto; Mrs Jury, soprano; Mrs N. M. Grant, pianist; Miss Val Porter, soprano; Miss V. Nicholass, elocution; Miss Lorna Bridges, novelty items; Mrs Jim Bali, mandolin melodies; Mr Ken Eade, tenor; Mr George Wheeler, bass; Mr Alt’ Bridges, comedy; Mr Tom Galloway, baritone. Special thanks are due to Mr K. M. Wright and Mr Brownlee-Smith, of the Raglan County Council, for their assistance in making the necessary transport.
