Young Wellington Producer In Hamilton Raymond Hedges, who produced his first revue in Wellington when he was only 16 years of age and since then has staged many other productions, specialising in smart modem comedy of the Noel Coward variety, will spend a few days in Hamilton next week, prior to going into camp. As mentioned in these columns formerly, Mr Hedges has one of the most unique collections of grand opera records in New Zealand, having practically all the operas complete, and being a mine of information on opera singers. Au Revoir to Hamilton Performers Mr and Mrs J. Crawford came in this week to say goodbye. Mjs Crawford goes to visit relatives in Melbourne, while her husband has volunteered for military service. During their stay in Hamilton Mr and Mrs Crawford have become prominent with the Operatic Society and on the concert platform, * and have also won much personal popularity. Everyone will echo their wish that they may return to Hamilton when the war is over. Haig McLisky, another popular member of the Hamilton Operatic Society, will leave next week for Wanganui, where he has accepted a position. Hamiltonian in Wellington Piano-accordion solos by Mrs Tui Henderson, formerly of Hamilton, proved very popular at a camp entertainment at Trentham last week. Ida Lockwood, violinist, and Betty and Patricia Maddock, formerly of Hamilton, played at a concert at the Air Force camp at Weraroa. Mr P. W. Maddock was stage manager. “And So To Bed” Pleases Palmerston “Providing one of the most delightful presentations yet given by members of the Manawatu Repertory Society ‘And So To Bed,’ J. B. Fagan’s comedy, achieved a very gratifying success,” says a Palmerston North paper. Mrs M. D. Kilpatrick (Joan Parkhouse, formerly of Hamilton) had charge of the properties and wardrobe. Repertory Theatre Productions “What Say They?” a comedy by James Bridie, was staged for three nights this week by the Auckland Repertory Theatre. “When We Are Married,” a farcical comedy by J. B. Priestley, which the Wellington Repertory Theatre has selected for its next production, is to be presented under the direction of Leo du Chateau in the first week of September.
