Hamilton Singer for Auckland Mr J. T. Battersby, the Hamilton tenor, has been engaged to sing the title role in Handel’s oratorio “Judas Maccabaeus,” with the Auckland Choral Society, on Saturday, September 14. Hamilton Music Students At a meeting of the Hamilton Music Students’ Association on Monday night the programme will be devoted to European music. “Hinemoa” at Oamaru The Oamaru Choral Society’s presentation of Alfred Hill’s “Hinemoa” took place last week. The solo parts were taken by Anita Proctor and Alfred Walmsley. of Dunedin. Famous London Orchestra Saved Jack Hylton, the swing band leader, has saved the London Philharmonic Orchestra from being dis~ banded. He arranged, by cable, twice daily fixtures for a tour of the George Black variety theatres, beginning at Glasgow on August 11.
