SHIRLEY TEMPLE
NOT TO LEAVE FILMS NEW STORIES PURCHASED Shirley Temple and Twentieth Century-Fox have come to the parting of the ways after one of the most profitable star-studio associations in film history. The child star brought at least £5,000,000 to the company’s coffers. Shirley’s share of the golden partnership is an estimated fortune of three million dollars. This does not include a trust fund of £125,000 established for her by the company. This twelve-year-old millionairess’ earning capacity, moreover, is not yet seriously impaired. She can still keep the Temple bells ringing at the box-offices to the tune of £IOO,OOO a year, according to the experts. It is now practically certain that she will resume her screen career under the guidance of Joe Pasternak, who has a genius for handling juveniles. Mr Pasternak recently announced that he had acquired two stories “admirably suited to Shirley Temple”; “They Don’t Weep” and “Brothers of the East Side.”
