GENEROSITY OF POLITICIAN REPLACE AIR LOSSES (Uniioo Press Assn.—Elec. Tel. Copyright) (Received Aug. 10, 1.50 p.m.) LONtDON, Aug. 9 Mr G. Western, M.P., has given the Ministry of Air Production £IOO,OOO, “to replace Thursday’s losses in the battle over the Channel.” In handing the cheque to the Ministry Mr Western said: “It is the pilots which we cannot replace.” Mr Western, who is a Canadian, gave this money to pay for the replacement of the 16 Hurricanes and Spitfires which were lost in destroying sixty Nazi aeroplanes over the English Channel on Thursday.
