PROFIT AND TAXATION An increase in profit of £6702 to £21,640 is shown in the accounts of Renown Collieries, Limited, for the year ended July 31. Income tax, estimated at £11,297, against £6491 a year ago, social security tax of £932, against £747, and national security tax of £Bll, have to be deducted from the profit struck. This gives a net result of £B6OO, against £7700 in the previous year and £BOOO in 1938. The directors recommend the same dividends of 7 per cent, on preference shares and lOd a share on ordinary shares, while £ISOO has been transferred to general reserve.
