FRENCH INDO-CHINA
RESISTANCE TO JAPAN GREAT EAST ASIA BLOC ASSURING WORLD PEACE (United Press Assn.—Elec. Tel. Copyright) LONDON, August 8 The Chinese press, says a message from Shanghai, reports that the Vichy Government has informed Marshal Chiang Kai-shek that France is standing firm over IndoChina, and will resist any Japanese military move. The Navy spokesman, RearAdmiral Kanazawa, said in Tokio today that the recent changes in Japan were most important. It was Japan’s responsibility to create a Great East Asia bloc as a contribution to world peace. Japan was merely acting along world tendencies toward three or four regional blocs, the co-opera-tion of which was the only course for world peace. He cited the example of the United States’ PanAmerican activities.
