POLICE FORCE
OFFICERS PROMOTED SUB-INSPECTOR G. H. LAMBERT ROTORUA HAS INSPECTOR (By Telegraph.—Press Association) WELLINGTON, Friday The following police promotions are announced: — Sub-Inspector E. J. Carroll, promoted inspector and remains at Rotorua. Sub-Inspector D. J. O’Neill, promoted inspector and remains at Dunedin. Senior Detective W. H. Dunlop, promoted sub-inspector and remains in charge of the detective branch at Christchurch. Senior Detective S. G. Hall, promoted sub-inspector and remains in charge of the detective branch at Auckland. Senior-Sergeant G. H. Lambert, promoted sub-inspector and remains at Wellington. After five years in charge of the Hamilton Police Station, SubInspector, then Senior-Sergeant G. H. Lambert received notification toward the end of last month of his transfer to Wellington. He was succeeded by Detective-Sergeant A. G. McHugh, of Auckland, who was promoted to the rank of seniorsergeant. Sub-Inspector Lambert has been in the police service for 32 years. After joining the force in 1908 he served in the Auckland station as a constable for nine years, after which he was transferred to Kaikohe, where he served for five years before being promoted to sergeant in 1922. He was then transferred back to Auckland as sectional sergeant for seven years. Later he was in charge of the Otahuhu station for 18 months, and then had charge ot the Ponsonby Station for three and a-half years. In 1933 he was promoted to senior-sergeant and served at Newton for two years before coming to Hamilton.
