FUNCTIONS AT MATANGI

CARD EVENING There was a large attendance at the Matangi Hall recently, when a card tournament was held under the auspices of the Matangi Ladies’ Croquet Club. The winners of the progressive five hundred were Mrs Jamieson and Mr Inwood and a competition was won by Mrs T. Shaw. Supper was served by the ladies. Those present were:—Mesdames A. McClennan, G. Russell, H. Windsor, T. Shaw, W. J. Bourke, J. B. Taylor, Wainwright, Inwood, Baird, Jefferies, Jamieson. R. Tavlor. SOCIAL AFTERNOON The monthly social afternoon of the Matangi Women’s Methodist Fellowship Group, was held in the Matangi Church Hall on Wednesday. Mrs Gatman presided over the large number of members and visitors present, and the meeting opened with the devotional period conducted by the president. This was followed by an interesting talk given by Mrs Trownson. who was accorded a hearty vote of thanks. Vocal solos, rendered by Miss Elsie Shaw, were much enjoyed. Miss Pat Hicks was the acconrpanist. The hostesses were Mrs Hicks and Miss Gladys Robinson. Those present were:—Mesdames Gatman, Hicks, W. Ringer, Trownson, Hillary, McDowell, F. Libeau, A. Libeau, Palmer, King, Cargill, Burnett, Teague, H. Baker. Giles, Thorpe. Misses Pat Hicks, Elsie Shaw, Joan McDowell. Gladys Robinson.
