PRISONERS SENTENCED
HIT-AND-RUN CASE (By Telegraph.—Press Association) NAPIER, Thursday Mr Justice Ostler sentenced Edwin Charles Batt, labourer, to two years’ hard labour, for attempted rape. D’Arcy Herbert Joseph Ryder, farmer, for negligent driving causing injury, was fined £SO and his license was cancelled for three years. For failing to stop after the accident and render asisstance he was sentenced to a month’s hard labour.
