INDOOR SPORTS
PHYSICAL WELFARE PATRIOTIC FUNDS TO BENEFIT THURSDAY NIGHT PROGRAMME An opportunity to witness some- ( thing new in sporting activities will be presented to enthusiasts in Hamilton on Thursday night when Hamilton’s first indoor sports meeting will be held in Bledisloe Hall. Held under the auspices of the Physical Welfare and Rrecreation Branch in connection with the physical wel- ( fare Centennial celebrations, the I meeting will be conducted by offi- i cials drawn from the Hamilton and , Morrinsville athletic clubs. The programme will comprise J running, walking, field events and j hurdling. At one end of the hall there will be a specially constructed jumping pit at which the pole vault, broad jump, high jump and short putt will be decided. Strong entries, including a number of leading performers, have been received for the various sections of the programme | and competition should be keen throughout. Special interest should j centre in the challenge relay in • which the Morrinsville quartette, I which was undefeated in the Wai- , kato last summer, has been challenged by four specially selected Hamilton women. Novelty Events Variety will be given the programme by sprint events between one-wheel trick cyclists, and the evening will conclude with a one- j wheel cycle polo match.
