ROTORUA SURPRISES

PRESIDENT’S TO RACELINE GOLDEN ENGLAND'S STEEPLES FIANCEE IN LAST RACE There were again several surprises at Rotorua yesterday when the Rotorua Racing Club staged a patriotic meeting on the Arawa Park course. Lord Waitangi sprang a surprise when he broke a long series of unplaced performances to win at odds approaching a third of a century, while Raceline, in winning the chief flat event, paid nearly a score, a price in keeping with his recent form. Golden England again won the crosscountry event in runaway style and Black Musk scored over hurdles at his first appearance in this department. The concluding event was to the credit of Fiancee, and, as the result of an inquiry, the pay-out was withheld for fully half an hour. The weather was fine and there was a good attendance for an off day. Following are the concluding results:— PATRIOTIC STEEPLECHASE or £140: about 3 miles. 2 2-—GOLDEN ENGLAND, Mrs C. O.
