WEDDING
PETERSEN—DEANE MAGNOLIA RING VELVET St. Andrew’s Presbyterian Church, Matamata, was the scene of a charming wedding on Tuesday, July 2, when Elsie Mary, elder daughter of Mr and Mrs J. C. Deane, of Okoroire, was married to Cecil Andrew Norman, only son of Mrs K. Petersen, of Okoroire, and the late Mr A. M. Petersen. The Rev. J. H. Combes officiated at the ceremony. The bride, who was given away by her father, wore a beautiful gown of magnolia embossed ring velvet, the bodice of which was cut on slimfitting lines with a high cowl neckline. Leg-o’-mutton sleeves were featured and the full bustle-back skirt fell to form a long train. An exquisitely embroidered veil of tulle, arranged to form a Juliet cap, was held m place by a top-knot of orange blossom, and fell to form a second train. A muff of tulle orchids and satin streamers was carried. Attending as bridesmaids were Miss Nellie Deane, of Matamata, sister of the bride, and Miss Andrea Petersen, sister of the bridegroom. They wore frocks of magnolia ring velvet of a similar design to that of the bride. Scarlet tulle muffs of anenomes and streamers were carried and garlands of real flowers were worn in the hair. The flowergirls were Miss Norma Wilson, of Auckland, and Miss Mavis Colledge, of Papatoetoe, cousins of the bride. Their frocks were also of magnolia ring velvet designed with litting bodices and fully, flared skirts. Scarlet sashes finished the waistline, and they carried flower muffs. Mr Gordon Campbell, of Okoroire, was best man and the duties of groomsman were carried out by Mr Fred Crabb, Okoroire. The Ceremony Following the ceremony, a reepfcion was held at the Rialto, where Mrs Deane, assisted by Mrs Petersen, senr., received the guests. The bride’s mother was in a becoming frock of navy wool georgette, a navy hat and a fur stole. She carried a posy of crimson roses. Mrs Petersen wore a smart navy gown, a navy hat, and her posy was of cyclamen and anenome*.
When Mr and Mrs C. A. N. Petersen left on the wedding trip, the bride travelled in a powder blue frock under a navy stroller coat. A fur stole and navy accessories completed the outfit. Thomson (Whangarei), Mr W. Deane (Hamilton), Miss E. Shepherd (Auckland), Mrs G. Desmond (Matamata), Mrs Havelock Green, Mrs L. Wilson (Auckland), Mrs R. Coughlan (Papakura), Mrs C.
