AGAINST SABOTAGE
SAFEGUARDING VITAL POINTS The need for greater precautions with respect to the guarding of vital plant of various kinds, such as freezing works, was brought under the notice of the defence authorities, and was stressed directly to the Minister by the Freezing Companies’ Association, states the annual report of the New Zealand Sheepowners* Federation. Upon the appointment of the Hon. R. Semple as Minister of National Service, the federation secretary took the tirst opportunity to stress to him the great need for armed patrol at all points of vital national importance. such as freezing works, petrol depots, gas and water works. Mr Semple gave an undertaking that the question of adequate safeguards would be dealt with immediately as an urgent matter, and alsc that the question of the condition? under which gelignite and other exp'osives could be purchased would bo a matter for immediate action 'There was every justification for ar >• .mediate extension of safeguard: sabotage.
