SCHOOL FACILITIES
EDUCATION IN HAMILTON GOVERNMENT ASKED TO ACT A decision to ask the Government to proceed with the scheme for th* provision of more adequate educational facilities in Hamilton and to which it has already given its approval was made at a meeting yesterday of the Hamilton High School Board of Governors. The scheme* provided for the establishment of an intermediate high school and the amalgamation of the present two secondary schools to facilitate the separate secondary school teaching of boys and girls. Even although the country was at war, said Mr F. A. Snell, the Government had to proceed normally as ; possible. The provision of greater ' facilities had been put off from time to time and now the time had ar- ; rived when something should be < done. It had to be remembered j that money was still being found for j the State housing scheme. A resolution expressing the board’s ! opinion that the Government should j proceed with the scheme was carried | unanimously. Mr C. L. Mac Diarmid presided and j also present were Messrs H. M. Ham- j mond and F. A. Snell, Dr. H. Doug- • las, Mr A. English (secretary), and! Mr H. D. Tait (principal).
