WITH THE AMATEURS
Open-air Play by Amateurs At a meeting of the Palmerston North Little Theatre Society, Mrs V. E. Harman accepted the responsibility of producing an out-door play to be staged on an evening during the summer months. This is an idea that might be considered by Hamilton amateurs. The riverbank or the Lake Domain are ideal spots for such a production. City Council Helps Competitions At a meeting of the committee of the Dunedin Competitions Society, the Dunedin City Corporation forwarded a donation of £SO. To Awamutu iDrama Club When the Te Awamutu Drama Club decided to give a public entertainment m aid of the Red Cross funds, the choice was made of P. G. Wodehouse’s hilarious farce, “Good Morning, Bill,” and Mr Brian Malone was entrusted with the task of producing it. The performance took place this week and was a great success. The cast was: Marie, Miss Vera Holt; Lord Tidmouth, Mr Matthew Calder;
Lottie, Miss Hilda Garvey; Bill Paradevie, Rev. Martin Sullivan; Sally Smith, M#* Hilton Thompson; Sir Hugo Drake, Mr W. Foggin. Palmerston North Operatic Society A southern paper says that Mrs E. Mcßeath, who produced “A Runaway Girl” for the Hamilton Operatic Society last season, is to direct “Sunny” for the Palmerston North Operatic Society this year. Mrs Mcßeath hopes to go to Australia about the end of the year. One of Mrs Mcßeath’s sisters, Carrie Moore, the original “Merry Widow” in Australia, who has been holiday-making in Australia, expects to return to Hollywood shortly. Another, Lily, has been winning much praise for her work as a comedienne in comedy and vaudeville in Sydney.
