BIBLICAL FILM

‘THE GREAT COMMANDMENT” ANOTHER ‘‘BEN HUR” Darryl Zanuck is determined to make another “Ben Hur” of “The Great Commandment,” complete with chariots. “The Great Commandment” was originally made on a modest—.almost amateurish—scale by an independent company. Zanuck was so struck with its possibilities that he bought it for £30,000 for remaking on the usually lavish Twentieth CenturyFox lines. It is a Biblical story laid during the Roman occupation of Judea, and most of the scenes will be filmed in a specially constructed “city” now being built in Mojave Desert. It will depict how the events of that occupation closely parallel those in Europe under Nazi domination. Highlight will be a battle scene in which 100 chariots are engaged. Tyrone Power and Linda Darnell have been cast for the leading roles
