NEW BRANCHES CREATED

NEW ZEALAND AIR FORCE TEMPORARY PROMOTION (By Telegraph.—Press Association) WELLINGTON, Wednesday The establishment of new branches of the Royal New Zealand Air Force, the administrative and special duties branch and the medical branch, was gazetted tonight. The function of the former branch will be to appoint officers frc\i civil life to take over administrative duties, which are normally carried out by officers of the general duties branch. An amendment to the Air Force Regulations provides that in time of war, when it is expedient to promote officers and airmen to bring the Air Force up to war establishment, such promotion may be to temporary rank. An officer or airman appointed to temporary rank shall be entitled to pay and allowances for the equivalent substantive rank. Acting rank (unpaid) may be granted pending confirmation of appointment to higher rank, temporary or substantive.
