ADDITIONAL CREDITS
CONSIDERATION promised ESSENTIAL COMMODITIES (Special to Times) AUCKLAND, Wednesday The statement that in determining the amount to be allowed for importations in the third licensing period, to start on January 1, account was taken of the overseas funds estimated to accrue in that period, was made by the Minister of Customs, the Hon. W. Nash, in a communication acknowledging representations from the Auckland Chamber of Commerce. The chamber suggested that an additional amount of sterling credits should be allocated in view of increases from the sale of the Dominion’s primary produce. Mr Nash stated that, should it be found that a greater amount was available than was estimated by the Government, full consideration would be given to the question of applying such amount for the purpose of providing for additional imports of essential commodities, particularly from the United Kingdom.
