TE AWAMUTU FUNCTION
TEACHERS FAREWELLED / A pleasant afternoon tea party was held in the Te Awamutu Primary School to bid farewell to four of the staff who will not be returning next year. These were Mrs A. Hanna, who intends residing in Cambridge, Miss D. Wheeler, Miss Cooper and Miss M. Bowler. All four have been popular members of the staff and were wished every happiness in their new spheres of duty. The Te Awamutu High School held a very enjoyable breaking-up ceremony in the school hall in the form of a social and dance to which the teaching staff of the primary and secondary schools were invited, members of both school committees and their wives, and the parents of the children. Dancing was interspersed with various items which included a dialogue by Heather Oliphant and Lorna Pivac, vocal solos by Maureen Shanahan, mouth-organ solos by L. Bayly, Highland dances by Dawn Russell anu Nola Morriss, and items by girls of the singing club. Music was supplied by Miss Joyce Downey and Mr W. Wyllie and refreshments were served by the senior girls.
