FASHIONS FOR SURF
SOME NEW HOLIDAY NOTIONS Play togs themselves come in notions aplenty, but a lot of newness is typical of the season with the latest “covered-aip” look that is obtained by wearing blouses in preference to halters and brassiere tops, by the introduction of long, full sleeves which often replace the short ones, and with the advent of multitudes of little boleros and coats that are to be seen worn with everything from lounging pyjamas to bathing suits. Even swim suits have sleeves if they are to be right up to the minute, though these do not have the appeal that other forms of the “coverup” movement are exerting. But you will be sure to like the bright new fabrics and colours that all play togs are affecting. The soft muted pastels in styles for the surf, the new gaudier denims in maize yellow and sunny reds, the clean-looking cottons dyed in clear country colours. And there’s a bright bravado about the new rustic plaids and striped cotton jerseys that will lift the spiirts of those with an eye to colour.
Slacks are as cool-looking as chipped ice when they come in jaunty ginghams. Culottes that masquerade as dresses have trousers cut full as a skirt and breezy little boleros that cover the sun-backs. These are but some of the fashions designed for holiday fun and freedom, so pack plenty into your suitcase before you hie for sand and surf.
