EXPLOSION FOLLOWED BY FIRE
MANY REPORTED TO BE KILLED SINKING OF SHIP CONFIRMED BY LEGATION (United Press Assn.—Elec. Tel. Copyright) (Received Dec. 18, 2.30 p.m.) NEW YORK, Dec. 17 The Montevideo correspondent of the United Press says the explosion on the Admiral Graf Spec occurred in the munition stores and the ship immediately caught lire. The National Broadcasting Company says an unconfirmed report stales that many men were killed. The Montevideo correspondent of the New York Times says a member of the German Legation confirmed that it was planned to sink the Admiral Graf Spee at 8 p.m.
