PATRIOTIC EFFORTS

ACTIVITY AT WAITOA (Special to Times) TE AROHA, Saturday There was a poor attendance at a meeting held in the Waitoa Hall on Thursday for the purpose of forming a patriotic society. The meeting was convened by Mrs M. McLean and Mr J. Lynch was in the chair. Owing to the apparent lack of interest in the project, a resolution was passed that in regard to the formation of a patriotic society, the meeting stand adjourned. A committee was formed to arrange a suitable function for a send-off for the men in the district before they went overseas. A permit was promised for the function by the chairman of the Piako County Council, Mr W. C. Kennedy, who was in attendance.
