MORRINSVILLE COUNCIL (Special to* Time*) MORRINSVILLE, Friday Following an inquiry from the Housing Construction Department, the Morrinsville Borough Council decided last night, on the recommendation of the by-laws committee, that double-unit houses be allowed on sections of one-eighth of an acre. The Mayor, Mr W. Hetherington, presided ever the meeting. The Morrinsville Carnival Committee was granted permission to hold sports events on New Year’s Eve, when the central portion of Thames Street will be closed to vehicular traffic. Taxi Stand Moved The present taxi stand for two cars in Studholme Street is to be abolished, and a stand for all cars is to be made extending southwards from Ihe telephone box. The taxi proprietors will be required to pay a rental cf £5 a year. The Mayor and the town clerk, Mr A. G. Strahan. were appointed the council’s delegates to the municipal conference to be held in Wellington from March 5 to 8.
