AIR FORCE FILM

“THE LION HAS WINGS”

PRE-VIEW HELD IN SECRET Even the pre-view of “ The Lion Has Wings,” the very “ hush-hush ” film of the Royal Air Force in wartime, was held in secret, says a London paj>er. It was shown to Sir Kingsley Wood, the Air Minister, chiefs of the Ministry of Information, and just a few studio officials at the Odeon, Leicester Square, after the curfew had closed the theatre at 6 o’clock. Made with the collaboration and strict supervision of the Air Ministry, it reveals many hitherto closely guarded secrets of British factories and aerodromes. The highlight is a reconstruction of the raid on the Kiel Canal with the help of some of the men who actually took part. The stars are Ralph Richardson as a pilot—he has since joined the Fleet Air Arm—June Duprez, and Merle Oberon. Started only four days after the outbreak of war, it took only 12 days to complete. It will be shown in England very soon, also in America and the Dominions.
