ESCAPED PRISONER
NUMEROUS CHARGES FACED GAOL FOR 18 MONTHS (Special to Times) AUCKLAND, Thursday A list of 23 chargesj including two of escaping from custody, 18 involving theft from and damage to various launches moored in Hobson Bay and elsewhere, were admitted by Frank Norman Harrop, labourer, aged 33. before Mr F. H. Levien, S.M., in the Police Court today. Detective-Sergeant J. Walsh said that on October 12 accused escaped from the Waikune prison camp and was later recaptured and sentenced in the Taumarunui Police Court to an additional term. Accused again escaped on November 15, and the offences now admitted had been committed since that date after his return to Auckland. Accumulative sentence of 18 months’ imprisonment with hard labour was imposed, and accused was also remanded to appear in the Taumarunui Police Court.
