FINAL WAIPA TRIALS

BALINAVAR BRILLIANT SIX FURLONGS IN 1.17 4-5 BESIEGE IN GOOD HEART (By Telegraph.—Special to Tlmea) TE AWAMUTU, Thursday The course proper at Te Awamutu this morning was open for fast work, 18ft. out from the rails, and the going was in good order. The highlights of the morning were a brilliant six furlongs by Ballinavar and a smart three furlongs by Besiege and Te Monowai. Others to impress were Gay Seton, British Nation and Beau Leon. Clessamor (Chote) and Prince Rangi (MXirtagh) finished on terms over six furlongs in 1.19, both doing their work well throughout. Suleiman (McGrath) strode over fix furlongs in 1.19, the last five furlongs in 1.4 2-5. Baran was not after time in completing a mile in 1.49 2-5. He looks in great condition, and should make a forward showing in the Te Awamutu Cup this week. Hutuwai (McGrath) and Joan Peel (Ruston) were together at the end of six furlongs in 1.21. Helga (McDonald) ran four furlongs in 525. She is on the upgrade. Beau Leon (Ruston) worked attractively over half a mile in 51s, which was the best of the morning over the distance.

Serenata finished two lengths in front of Te Takina at the completion of five furlongs, the last half mile in 51 2-ss. Te Takina ran wide coming into the straight, otherwise Serenata’s margin would not have been as great. Seiglinde (Chote) completed four furlongs in 525. Fils de Vaals Was worked on the plough over seven furlongs but was not timed. Besiege 'and Te Monowai dashed over three furlongs in 375. British Nation Improving British Nation was going strongly at the end of a smartly-run half-mil* in 51 2-ss, and is on the improve. Balinavar (Goulsbro) jumped off at the six furlongs and came home in 1.17 4-5. Balinavar, one of the luling favourites for the Te Awamutu Cup, is in great heart for his engagement, and it will not be on the score of condition if he fails to show to advantage on Saturday. Hutana (Home) strode over seven furlongs in 1.34. Gay Seton (Home), from a standing start, got to the end of four furlongs in 51 2-ss, and was going strongly at the finish. Beile Femme slipped over three furlogs in 38s. Others to do useful work included Corato, Centaurus, Town Survey, "Cnow White, Cheval de Volee, The Ugly Duckling, Loombination, Otoro and Indian Sun. Additional riding engagements include: C. G. Goulbro: Besiege. K. Chote: Clessamor, Sieglinde.
