WAIRARAPA RAILWAY SPEED RESTRICTIONS IMPOSED (By Telegraph.—Press Association) WELLLINGTON, Wednesday After being blocked foA two days by slips and washouts caused by the rainstorm on Monday, the line between Upper Hutt and Cross Creek, on the Wairarapa railway, was opened for through traffic at 8 o’clock to-night. From then onward trains were able to negotiate the affected areas, but it was stated to-night that every precaution was being taken and that speed restrictions would apply until the track ballast is properly consolidated. The Railway Department advised to-night that no further trouble had occurred on the Hutt Valley lines and normal services were operated between Wellington and Upper Hutt to-day.
