WEDDING

WALTERS—STOBIE .. ANGELSKIN LACE GOWN A charming wedding was solemnised in St. John’s Anglican Church, Waihi, on November 25 when Joyce Irene, elder daughter of Mr and Mrs J. Stobie, of Waihi Beach, was married to William Francis, younger son of Mr and Mrs Frank W. Waiters, of Rangiatea, Otorohanga. The ceremony was performed by the Rev. Canon J. L. Kyall. The bride, who entered the church with her father, wore a graceful gown of angelskin lace, the bodice being shirred in the front and trimmed with tulle. The full-length j-leeves formed a point over the hands and the long skirt flared from the waistline into a long oval train, which was trimmed with frilled tulle and sprays of orange blossom. Her tulle veil was held in place by a halo of orange blossom and fell to form a second train. She carried a bouquet of lilies and maidenhair fern The Attendants Miss Nellie Walters, sister of the bridegroom, Miss Cynthia Byrn, of Waitetuna, and Miss Phyllis Stobie, sister of the bride, were in attendance on the bride as bridesmaids. They wore similar frocks of blue organza designed in the same style as that of the bride, the waistlines being defined with pale-pink velvet sashes. Their picture hats were trimmed with pink velvet and they carried bouquets of pink and blue flowers. Mr Albert North ,of Waitoa, was the best man and Messrs Bruce Malcolm, of Papakura, and T. Somerville, of Otorohanga, were groomsmen. Messrs F. Biss, of Te Aroha, and R. Harris were the ushers. Following the ceremony, a reception was held in the Foresters’ Hail which had been beautifully decorated in shades of pink and blue. The bride’s mother received the guests wearing a navy ensemble, with a matching hat, and the mother of the bridegroom wore a black ensemble and a hat to tone. They both carried posies in cyclamen and clover shadings. When Mr and Mrs W. F. Walters left by car for a tour of the North Island, the bride was wearing a nig-ger-brown suit, silver fox furs and accessories to tone.
