DEATH AT 102
HAWKE’S BAY RESIDENT LIVED UNDER SIX RULERS (By Telegraph.—Press Association) HASTINGS, Tuesday Hawke’s Bay’s oldest resident, Mr George William Lines, of Hastings, died last evening after the remarkably long life of 102 years, nine months. Mr Lines was born in Salford, Bedfordshire, on March 29. 1837, a few weeks before Queen Victoria came to the throne. Consequently he could claim to have lived under six rulers of the British Empire.
