LINLITHGOW STAKES HIGH CASTE AND MANRICO TRIODE TAKES OAKS (United Press Assn.—Elec. Tel. Copyright) MELBOURNE, Nov. 9 Although he could only dead-heat with Manrlco, High Caste registered one or his best performances In the Linlithgow Stakes on the third day of the Victoria Haring Club’s spring meeting at FJemington to-day. High Caste was lour lengths behind at the home turn and got up in the last stride to share the honours with Manrico. who made all the pace. The New Zealand-bred Hilton was a poor third. The two-year-old Securities recorded ■his second win in three starts when he narrowly defeated Earl Marshall in the Byron Moore Stakes. Earl Marshall ran a game race, arid Trueness maintained her consistent record by finishing third. Securities was an acceptor for the Maribyrnong Plate, on the first day, but was debarred from starting owing to the Tact that his dam was not registered at the required time. Cheery Jack atoned for his failure on Cup Day by -scoring a comfortable win in the November Hurdles. Frisco made a game elTort to win all the way. Cosgard was a moderate third. The Progeny, a three-year-old by Beau Fils, trained by the former Jockey W. Duncan, scored a surprise win in the Carnival Handicap. He wore down Duralium in the last few strides. The New Zealand colt Aranui was a good third. Triode led over the last seven furlongs to win the Oaks Stakes comfortably. The clever riding tactics of D. Munro was a big factor in her success. He slowed the field down early, and came home the last half-mile in 50is. Dreamsome was second most of the journey, and battled gamely, without having a chance W’ith the winner. Climax finished well ror third. Zonda had every opportunity, while the New Zealand-bred Quietly and Benzonia were outclassed. J. Mulcahy, who trains Triode, Avon the Oaks previously with Mufti. In an exciting finish in the Veteran Stakes, Fearless came through on the rails to beat Bathing Beauty, who was wide out, and finished strongly. Pibroch was a good third.
