TAXATION INCREASED (United Press Assn.—Elec. Tel. Copyright) LONDON, Nov. 8 The Emergency Budget of Eire includes an increase of Is in the income tax for 1940, making the standard rate 6s 6d; the sugar tax is increased by |d per lb. The estate, beer, spirits and tobacco duties are also increased. Mr Hean Okelly in introducing the budget said the increases were necessary owing to falling revenue and the measures adopted to preserve Eire’s neutrality.
