MONTHLY MEETING

PLUNKET SOCIETY Mrs N. E. Blomfield, president, occupied the chair at the monthly meeting of the Plunket Society held on Friday last. Satisfactory figures were received from the Hamilton and Frankton district nurses as follows: — Hamilton: New cases, 19 breast fed, 2 partially breast fed, 4 artificially fed; total, 25. Visits to rooms, adults 669, babies 616, older children 87; total, 1372. Visits to homes 82. advice given five new expectant mothers. Frankton: New cases, 13 breast fed, l artificially fed; total, 14. Visits to homes 10 new cases, 37 old cases; total, 47. Visits to office, 224 adults, 217 babies, 7 older children; total, 448. Babies under supervision 174, older children under supervision 25; total, 199. Raglan: New cases, 1 breast fed, visits to office 17 adults, 10 babies. Te Mata: Visits to office, 7 adults, 5 babies, 2 older children. A vote of thanks was passed to the Hamilton Borough Council for its donation of £25 toward the continuance of the work of the Hamilton branch. Interesting Address An unusual feature of this month's committee meeting was an address delivered by Mr ii. Holloway, wfiose suoject was “ Defective Teem.” Mr lionoway gave an interesting address on tne causes and treatment of irregularities witii a view to tneir being recognised witn a possibility I of prevention. Thumb sucking, Up biting, the misuse of dummies and the incorrect holding of feeding bottles were all touched upon by the speaker. At the conclusion of the address, Mrs Blomfield voiced tne appreciation of the committee to Mr Holloway for his most interesting address. At the conclusion of the meeting, Mrs Blomfield introduced Miss E. M. Mackay, the new Hamilton nurse, to the committee, extending a welcome and expressing the hope that Miss Mackay would enjoy her association with Plunket in Hamilton.
