BRIDGE CLUB Fifty-two players were present at the final bridge evening promoted by the Ladies’ Bridge Club, Te Aroha. The evening took the form of a combined open night, a number of men players being present. Mrs E. C. Wykes welcomed the visitors, and Mr G. Gilchrist returned thanks on their behalf. The prize-winners were Mrs Dempster and Mr G. Gilchrist. Consolation prizes were awarded to Mrs J. L. Otter and Mr Kenny. Among those present were: Mesdames Lawrence, Wykes, Otter, Burns, Fitzpatrick, Hepburn, E. Bliss, Wright, Kenny, Wild, A. D. Jones, G. Jones, McGirr, Hunger, Dalton, Meredith, Danton, Jordon, Frear, Jacob, Murphy, Haines-Gardiner, Lloyd, Crompton, Carwardine, Horner. Misses M. Gilchrist, N. Gilchrist, Vincent, Currie, Booth, Clarke, Matthew, McGirr, Otter, McCormick and McLaren. Messrs G. Gilchrist, Dainton, G. Jones, Meredith, Kenny, Otter, MacKee, Wright, Vickers, Jones and Fitzpatrick. METHODIST BAZAAR The annual bazaar promoted by the Methodist Ladies’ Guild was a de-
cided success. Heavily stocked stalls attracted spirited business throughout, and the financial result was eminently satisfactory. The various stalls were in charge of the following:—Nursery, Mesdames Bailey, G. Callaghan. Zeigler, and Jenkins; bathroom, Mesdames Billing, Brooks, Daines and Forbes; aprons, Mesdames Pilkington and Boyd, and Misses C. and F. Saunders; novelty, Mesdames Dorr, Davey
and Williamson; produce, Mesdames Stuck, Lyons and Cullen; cakes, Mesdames R. Trebilco and Willis; sweets, Mrs McDonald, and Misses M. Smart and V. Trebilco; flowers and plants, Mrs J. Wild and Miss H. Dixon; bran tub, Mrs R. Eastwood, Miss L. Bailey and Endeavour members; tea rooms, Mesdames Cornelius, Stanley, North, E. Nicol, Roots, Walsh and Tibbotts. Various competitions were in charge of Messrs S. Sharlock, R. Jenkins and Williamson, and the following were the winners: Mrs G. Clark, Mrs Power, Mr J. George, Mr Williamson, Miss R. Horn, Mrs Davey, Mr Davey, D. and N. Sharlock, Mr Jenkins and L. Sharlock. AROHANUI REBEKAH LODGE At the installation of officers of Arohanui Rebekah Lodge No. 89 by Bro. Reidy, D.D.S.M. and Sister Webster P.N.S., as Deputy-Grand Marshal, visitors were present from Matua, Kaimai and Te Kuiti Rebekah lodges, and also from Arawa, Star of Waikato and Wairere lodges. The officers installed were:—Sister Dairies, 1.P.G.; Sister Gaw, N.G.; Sister Hayes, V.G.; Sister Love, Division Secretary; Sister Johnson, Receiving Secretary; Sister Hepburn, Treasurer; Sister Evison, Conductor; Sister Wilson, Chaplain; Sister Roberts, Musician; Sister McDonald, Warden; Sister Harvey, R.S.N.G.; Sister Beavis, L.S.N.G.; Sister Williams, R.S.V.G.; Sister Body, L.S.V.G.; Sister Shotbolt, R.A.S.; Sister Bowring, L.A.S.; Sister Sheely, Inside Guardian; Sister Howell, Outside Guardian; Sister Daines, Perceptor. After the initiation the evening was spent in dancing, to music supplied by Sister Glover. A novelty dance was won by Sister Duff and Bro. Smith, of Hamilton. A competition was won by Sister Thwaites, of Matamata.
