RAIDER SIGHTED

IN NORTH ATLANTIC THE BATTLESHIP DEUTSCHLAND SEARCH BY ALLIED UNITS (United Pres» Assn.—Elec. Tel. Copyright) LONDON, Nov. 7 According to a Rome radio broadcast the German raiding battleship Deutschland has been sighted in the North Atlantic, and British and French units are operating preparatory to engaging her. The hunt is on for the German battleships Deutschland and Admiral Scheer, which are on lone raiding missions in the Atlantic. The Admiralty will remain silent until it has results to announce. The Daily Telegraph says that compared with the position of German raiders in the Great War, the Deutschland is at a disadvantage, because almost all merchant ships are now equipped with wireless. Destruction Expected

Her attacks must be sudden in order to keep her whereabouts secret, as once she is located it is likely to be only a question of time before she is engaged by a warship powerful enough to destroy her. The Admiralty no doubt is also taking steps to intercept the Deutschland’s supply ships, which are reported to have sailed from Mexican and South American ports.
