OMINOUS PREPARATIONS TROOPS ON THE FRONTIER AMSTERDAM. Nov. 7 Germany has placed shock troops, tanks and armoured cars from the Polish campaign along the whole frontier, under the command of General Blaskowitz. According to German sources this is due to lack of accommodation in the Siegfried foris. Dutch troops continue to man the frontier and are being reinforced at all points. The flood defences are ready. Great airoraft activity is re-: ported from numerous points on the French-Luxembourg frontier. Several air flights occurred. PARIS, Nov. 7 A night communique states that there was local patrol and artillery activity at various points. RAIDERS DRIVEN OFF NUMBER OF ENGAGEMENTS LONDON. Nov. 7 The Air Ministry announces that a number of air actions took place over the North Sea to-day. An enemy aircraft, on approaching the Shetland# this morning, was driven off by gunfire. it was then chased away by British aircraft. Several other enemy aircraft were sighted end two were engaged b, Royal Air Force patrols many miles out over the North Sea. The enemy aircraft escaped into a cloud and It is not known whether they were able to return home. All our aircraft returned safely. COMBAT IN AIR OFF COAST OF JUTLAND - COPENHAGEN, Nov. 7 Two bombers, believed to be German, pursued by tweive fighters, were sighted off the west coast of Jutland. The bombers appeared from the north and a short battle ensued. The combatants disappeared. GERMAN SHIP CAPTURED SIERRA LEONE, Nov, 7 The German ship Uhenfels was captured and taken to Freetown. MATAROA IN DANGER CHASED BY SUBMARINE NEW YORK, Nov. 7 The radio has received a message that the British liner Mataroa has “been chased by a submarine of unknown nationality in a position 700 miles south-east of Bermuda.” NEW TRAINING CENTRE CANADIAN AIR FORCE OTTAWA, Nov. 7 The Royal Canadian Air Force, with the help of the Ontario Government, has obtained a technical training centre, which will give workshop accommodation and excellent housing for the personnel of 3000.
