MORE SEVERE AGAIN
INFLUENZA AMONG TROOPS ABOUT 66 MEN IN HOSPITAL LARGEST NUMBER TO DATE Although it appeared likely on Saturday that the influenza epidemic at the Hopu Hopu military camp had eased, a considerable number of soldiers were admitted to the Waikato Hospital and now about 66 men are receiving treatment. It is the largest number of soldiers to be in the hospital at the one time. The form of influenza they have, however, is said to be of a mild nature. Yesterday 27 men were admitted, the largest number on any one day, and the wards are taxed. The average time of treatment of the troops is from five to seven days, but in some cases it is somewhat longer. The admission to hospital of the soldiers is recorded in a special register. The many details regarding rank, unit, regimental number, and so on require more recording than for the average patient.
