MATAMATA BEAT CAMBRIDGE MISS M. BEVERLEY IN FORM (Special to Times) CAMBRIDGE, Sunday A representative match was played during the week-end, when the Matamata Club visited the Cambridge Club, the visitors winning by 19 sets to 11. A feature was the presence or the Dominion women’s singles champion. Miss M. Beverley, who won all her games. Some splendid tennis was seen throughout the match, especially when Misses N. and M. Beverley beat Miss N. Griffith and Mrs Bromwich, G— o, 6 — 2, in the women's doubles. Summarised results are: Men’s singles, Matamata 3, Cambridge 3; women’s singles, Matamata 2, Cambridge 2; women’s doubles, Matamata 4. The Te Vku Tennis Club’s season was declared open on Saturday by the president, Mrs Girrord. A fireworks display was held In the evening, followed by a dance. Music was played by Mrs Silcocks. and Mr T. Crawford was master of ceremonies.
