RATES STILL LOWER
VALUES AT FRANKTON BEEF AGAIN DECLINES Values for beef experienced a further setback at the Frankton sale today when prices per head were from 15s to £1 lower. The entry was again a heavy one, with quality not quite up to the standard of previous weeks. Heavy steers tgtfay made from £l2 17s 6d to £l3 ss. Prime heavy cows and heifers, which were small in numbers, made from £9 15s to £lO 10s. Another heavy entry of fat jsheep was on offer; bidding over the early sales was slack, and values were usually at least 2s a head lower. The yarding of fat pigs was the largest this year, but despite this both baconers and porkers were in good request at usually late rates. Quotations:—Heavy prime steers, £l2 17s 6d to £l3 ss; medium, £ll to £ll 17s 6d; light, £9 5s to £lO 15s; heavy prime cows and heifers, £9 15s to £lO 10s; prime, £8 6s to £9 ss; fat, £6 10s to £7 15s; small and killable, £4 to £5 17s 6d. Baconers, 65s to 82s; porkers, 40s to 60s.
