GOVERNOR OF MADRAS

EXTENSION OF TERM (United Press Assn.—Elec. TeL Cocyrleht) LONDON, Nov. 5 The King has approved the extension of Lord Erskine’s term as Governor of Madras and the postponement of Sir Arthur Hope’s assumption of the office for four months until March, 1940. It is understood that this is due to the uncertainty of the situation following the resignation of the Congress Ministry. It is felt that it would be inconvenient to have a change of Governor at the moment of a Constitutional crisis in the Presidency.
