HALLOWE’EN SOCIAL A most successful and enjoyable Hallowe’en social was held in the Presbyterian Sunday School Hall, Huntly, which was appropriately decorated with witches, black cats, ghosts, skulls and bats. The guests were met as they entered the hall by three witches, who introduced them to two very large ghosts with clanging chains. The whole atmosphere was most realistic and weird. The programme was in the capable hands of Mrs G. A. Shaw and her committee. The programme consisted of various items, principally of a Scottish nature, competitions, games and sketches. A burlesque, “Wild Nell,” w T as exceptionally thrilling, those taking part being Miss D. Gibb, Miss B. Kinson and Miss I. Knapper, and Messrs T. M. Shaw, T. A. Shaw and R. Shaw. The shadow pictures were also very good. Other items were rendered as follows: Trios, Messrs M. Penman, W. M. Shaw and G. A. Shaw; songs, Misses K. Salter, D. Gibb and L. Kinson, and Mr M. Penman; sailors’ hornpipe and Irish jig, Misses Agnes Garrick (Renown), Marjorie Garrick (Pukemiro Junction), Ena Grierson (Renown), Elaine Luke and Dorothy Pearson; play, “In the Park,” Mrs T. Chisholm and Miss Lottie Hainsworth: seantruibhais and Highland fling, Miss J. Bowron (accompanied by Mr T. Ingram on the
bagpipes). Supper consisted of sausages and mashed potatoes, followed by girdle scones and tea. GARDEN PARTY ST. PAUL'S LADIES’ GUILD An enjoyable garden party was held on Tuesday afternoon in the warm and sheltered gardens at the
residence of Mrs J. W. Burgess, d Hakanoa Street, Huntly, the function e being in aid of funds for the Huntly St. Paul’s Ladies’ Guild. There was a good attendance and a happy time was spent with various competitions, the winners of which were as follows:—Ring the bell croquet, Mrs D. i Luke; clock golf, Mrs R.
