LADIES’ GUILD

TAUPIRI METHODIST CHURCH The Taupiri Methodist Ladies’ Guild held its annual garden party at the residence of Mrs T. Reekie, Great South Road. There was a fair attendance and the various attractions were well patronised. The stall-holders were as follows:—Sewing, Mrs A. W. Buss and Mrs T. Reekie; cakes and sweets, Mrs S. Silvester and Miss E. Button. Those running the competitions were Mesdames S. A. Clarke, A. L. Button, Bodle, and Miss E. Silvester. Mesdames G. Wilson, F. Gerome, D. Lewis, R. Fransham and A. F. Buss were in charge of the afternoon tea. The sponge cake and shortbread competitions were judged by Mr George and were w r on by Mrs A. L. Button and Miss E. Silvester. The winners of the various games were as follows: Crazy croquet, Mrs J. Wilson (Kainui); clock golf, Mrs Reekie; ladder croquet. Miss Eunice Hill; ball croquet, Mrs A. W. Buss. Among those present were:—Mesdames T. Reekie, D. Lewis, S. Silvester, T. Eagleson, A. W. Buss, Alvey (Huntly), R. Baucke (Kainui). A. F. Buss, A. L. Button, Dick, J. Murphy, Cross (Huntly). Bradclock, T. White, Bodle, Phillips (Kainui), F. Gerome, Baker (Huntly), J. Wilson (Kainui), B. Mathers, Black. S. Mathers, R. Fransham, S. A. Clarke. Misses E. Silvester, E. Hill, E. Button and I. Silvester.
