ENEMY ARTILLERY FIRE SPIES BY PARACHUTE LESS AIR ACTIVITY (United Press Assn.—Elec. Tel. Copyright) (Received Nov. 4, 3.15 p.m.) PARIS, Nov. 3 A morning French official communique states: “There was a quiet night. There was some artillery and infantry fire. On November 2 a German twin-engined reconnnaisance aeroplane was brought down in our territory by a British fighter. Minor German troop movements are occurring north of Saarguimines, east of which their artillery is active. Air activity in October, when ten German planes were brought down, was less than in September—namely 28. The Nazis apparently are landing spies by parachute behind the lines, two such having been identified. PARIS, Nov. 3 A war communique states that there was a quiet night on the whole front, with local encounters between contact units.
