TENNIS SEASON OPENS

OKOROIRE HALL CLUB There was a large attendance at the Okoroire Hall Tennis Club courts when play for the new season began with a Yankee tournament. Visitors were present from all surrounding clubs and some excellent games were enjoyed. The tournament was won by Miss R. Ross and Mr Watson. The season was officially opened by the president, Mr Harwood, after which the top woman player, Miss V. Gubb, served the first ball. Among those present were:—Mesdames Gordon Brown, E. Gubb, Brazandale (Te Poi), J. Wilkinson, H. Wine (Tirau), S. Bellamy, E. Clarke, H. Wymer, E. Schwarz, J. Swap (Te Poi), T. Chandler, Arthur Brown, G. Coates, P. Castleton, L. Butler, H. Jones (Auckland), T. Macken, J. Foggo (Te Poi), J. Philpot (Walton). Misses Elsa Brown (Auckland), Jean Carruth, Evelyn Whitworth (Matamata), Andra Petersen, Dorothy Graham, R. Ross (Tirau), H. Bell, Amy Pemberton (Tirau), Joan Siebert (Walton), Audrey Wiss, Madge Carruth, Lilah Harwood (Rotorua), Linda Martellett, Faith Newton (Auckland), Elsie Deane (Matamata), Valerie Gubb, J.
